Everything shall be an attempt
32 years have passed since I began researching Egon Schiele. When I was 16 years old, I first came into contact with his works. However, through my research and daily life, I often think about Schiele's words:
"Everything shall be an attempt."
These words give me the courage to live when I feel like giving up and can’t take another step.
One might think that Schiele only painted images of the sexuality and suffering of men and women, but he also created gentle and serene works, such as Flowers, Krumau Castle Garden (above), as well as his unrealized plans for a mausoleum – my main area of study.
There is a deep sense of love in his work, a message that says, "Life doesn’t have to be perfect," so that people who, like me, find life difficult can continue to live. I hope that I can convey this feeling to others through my research on Schiele.
